Amara moaned. "Why is there nothing to do?" she said as she rolled over onto her stomach. She was lying on her bed. It was just before lunch, and she had stayed in her room all morning, apart from showering and eating breakfast. She had been here a short while, yet she didn't know anything she could do. She wasn't all that interested in sports, she hadn't started her Danger Room training, and she hadn't made one friend since she was put in this room.
She lifted her face from the pillow and looked over at the empty bed. "It would be so much better if I had a roommate!"

Kitty was to be moved into a dorm today. She sort of wanted to avoid contact with others at this moment, feeling a bit off and socially awkward, but headed off towards her room -- she had to put her things up anyway. She had a box of clothing and whatnot, her personal belongings. Propping the box on her left hip, she used her right hand to open the door and walked in, plopping her heavy box on the bed and looked up to see another girl in there.
After a moment, she grinned and walked over, holding out her hand. "Oh, you must be my roommate. I'm Kitty. Nice to meet you..." She said and sat on her own bed.

Amara shook Kitty's hand. "My name is Amara" she said, now sitting up and crossing her legs on her bed. She observed the girl. They seemed about the same age, and she was quite friendly. Maybe this girl could be her friend? Magma noticed the box Kitty had brought in. "What's in there?" she asked, inquisitively, but not trying to stick her head in the box, to find out what she had.
She sat closer to the edge of the bed, moving a couple of the books she had taken out from the library which she needed for her classes. She looked at Kitty, waiting for her reply.

She leaned back on the bed a little and rifled through her box, pulling out a few books and cds and a shirt. "Just some of my stuff. Clothes and whatever." She grinned and laid down on her elbows, looking back at the girl. "So what do you guys do around here for fun?" Her eyes wandered around the room and to the belongings of the girl, examing her new habitat.
She loved books, for some reason. Well, she liked reading at least. Nothing romance, though, she couldn't stand romantic stuff. She liked action, thrillers, horror stuff -- stuff that got her adrenaline pumping. Her favorite hobby to do back home was wrestle. Would people like to wrestle here? Probably not. Everything was so weird here. But, she'd get used to it.

"Well, I don't exactly know either. I'm quite new here too" Amara said, looking at the books and CDs the girl owned. "That desk there is yours. I hope you don't mind that I took the one looking out the window. I like staring outside, the feel of the sun on my skin" Amara said, remembering that the girl didn't know about her powers. Did this girl have any powers?
"I hope you don't mind me asking, but... What are your powers?" she said, now standing up and taking the books over to her desk. "I mean, they are probably much better than mine" she said. Sometimes Amara didn't like her powers. When she got upset, usually something was damaged, or someone was hurt unintentionally.

"Hey, no problem. I'll be fine over here." She said, getting up and walking over to the desk, with the cds and books in hand. Setting them down and reorganizing them, she spoke and didn't look up. "I like having my own desk," she grinned and then turned to the girl after a moment.
"My power? I can phase... not much, but hey, I like it." She grinned, shoving her hand through the desk and then pulling it back out, letting out a breath. "I can only phase as long as I can hold my breath though." She rolled her eyes and then smiled to her. "What about you? I'm sure your's are great!"

Amara flinched as she saw Kitty slam her fist at the desk, only to see it go straight through and come back out. "That was very cool" Amara said, now walking over to Kitty. It must suck having to hold ones breath to use their power though, Amara thought to herself.
"Oh, my power. I can control magma, lava, create earthquakes... That's basically it" Amara said. She looked disappointed. At first, she thought her powers were brilliant, but then she found out all the destruction she could cause, and all the people she could hurt. That didn't make her feel brilliant about them. "I'm hoping I can learn to master them though!"

Kitty furrowed her brows, looking to the girl as if she were crazy and smiled. This girl thought Kitty's powers were better? Whatever. Of course, the destruction the girl could cause must take a toll. But this girl was so powerful, Kitty could never imagine anything but embracing the power... of course, she would never know.
"Your powers sound awesome! But I understand what you're saying. You must get tired of having to have an outburst of power. I'd probably destroy a whole city if I had your powers." She laughed, jokingly, about how her emotions swayed so easily.

"Well that's precisely what they have done" Amara said as she looked away from Kitty. She then sat back down on her bed. "I used to think they were really cool, but then all that destruction happened. That's why I want to learn to control them!" she said, now looking up at Kitty.
Amara hopped of the bed and peered under it, reaching around for something. She pulled out a box with some charred relics in them. She sat the box on the bed. "This is what I could gather from the village" Amara said, sorting through the box and pulling out a small doll-like figure.

"Oh I'm sorry. I was just joking... I mean, I have a pretty bad temper... but... I'm sorry." She said, hoping she hadn't hit an emotional nerve within the girl. "Well, good luck with that. I'm sure you'll learn quickly. You seem like a smart girl." She said, hoping to make up for whatever she'd said before.
She walked up and studied the doll, smiling slightly. "I bet it means a lot to you." Looking over to the girl, she put a comforting hand on her shoulder. "But hey don't beat yourself up about it. Hey, how about we go out sometime? Grab a bite or something." She grinned.

Amara looked up at Kitty, after she had put her hand on her shoulder and spoken to her. "That would be great" Amara said, placing the doll back in the box and shuffling the box back under her bed. "Kitty... What did you used to do for fun back home?" Amara asked, now standing up. "Back in Nova Roma we used to go swim in the clear blue lakes, under the waterfalls. It was so beautiful!".

"Okay, whenever you want, we can go." It was something Kitty wanted to do, to comfort her. "I did whatever I wanted really. There wasn't much to do. I liked to wrestle with friends... swim, watch movies, go to the park every now and then. But I always wished for something more entertaining. I like adventures." She grinned. "I always wanted to go rock-climbing or cave-diving. Adventurous stuff, ya know."
"That sounds wonderful. I love nature, it's so beautiful. Nature can be pretty scary though." She giggled.

"You haven't been rock climbing? You are really missing out on something. I love rock climbing!" Amara said. "We must go sometime!" she said enthusiastically. The thriill of it was simply amazing. Amara had learnt from their swimming expeditions. They had to scale the wall of the cliff to get to the top of the waterfall so they could dive it. It was quite scary at first, but after a few tries, everyone got the hang of it.
"Do you wanna go for a walk outside? I think some fresh air would do us some good!"

"Definitely. I'd really like that." She said. This girl was really nice, she appreciated it. "Maybe tomorrow or something. But today, I wanna go eat lunch and chill. I'm pretty exhausted from the Danger Room." She grinned. "Have you been there yet?" She inquisited. The Danger Room was pretty much a training facility for the X-Men. A very technological room. Kitty understood the technology whereas a regular teen would have no idea what made it work.

"Yes, definitely tomorrow perhaps. Just let me know, especially now that we are roommates" Amara grinned. She was excited to do some exploration outside. There seemed to be quite an expansive amount of hidden compartments inside, so Amara just assumed the same for the outside.
"Unfortunately, not yet. They said they would have to make a few adjustments for me before I do... For safety" Amara sighed. "What's it like? Tell me everything about it!" she said excitedly, switching expressions almost instantaneously. "I bet it must be really cool to be allowed to practice your powers!" she said, still in her excited state.
