::YOUR CHARACTER::
Name: Nathaniel Grey
Codename: X-Man
Affiliation: X-Men
Age: 20
Physical Appearance: Nate's most striking visual feature is his hair, which is brown with stark white bangs. He has brown eyes, with an athletic body.
Strengths: Extremely high potential, high intellect, high willpower
Weaknesses: Low self-esteem, low anger threshold, low control of abilities
Powers: Nate possesses a variety of psionic abilities. Perhaps the most powerful of his abilities is telekinesis. He is able to utilize his mental energies to move objects, fire blasts of concussive psionic energy, or create forcefields out of psionic energy. Usually, Nate fires his psionic blasts out of his eyes, which due to the concussive strength of the energy makes it look similar to Cyclops's optic blasts. Right now, he is learning how to fly by turning his telekinetic powers inward. His telekinesis is so powerful that he can molecularly explode objects. By telekinetically speeding up the processes of the body as well as manipulating cell molecules, he can heal a person's injuries. An as-yet-unexplained power is the ability to phase through objects, which is believed to be a form of telekinesis that rearranges the molecules of his body and the object. He is able to breach the walls of our reality and dimension, allowing him to teleport anywhere in our universe as well as other universes. Due to his ability to manipulate molecules, Nate has also shown the potential to manipulate energy similar to his uncle Vulcan, and this even extends to fire, electricity, etc.
He is also telepathic, allowing him to read a person's mind, mentally communicate with a person, fire mind-numbing "mind blasts", rearrange a person's memories, create illusions, and even control a person's actions. His skill is so great that he is able to shut down mutant powers simply through telepathy. By touching an object, he can "read" the residual thought imprints left on the object by people. He can see the thoughts of the person that wielded it, who touched it, as well as see where the object has been. He can project his mind onto the astral plane, where his powers are increased. He can even pull people and objects out of the astral plane. The only limit to his power seems to be his creativity and his imagination, and with his great power, he is considered an Omega-level mutant. It is commonly said that Nate's power matches the Phoenix and could easily exceed it.
Other Skills: High intelligence, highly skilled with computers
History: The origins of Nate Grey can be traced back to the Weapon X project. Like so many other mutants, his life was affected by it; in fact, Weapon X was directly responsible for him even having a life at all. Some twenty-odd years ago, the project had been kidnapping and experimenting on a variety of mutants. One of these unlucky souls was a young boy named Scott Summers. During Scott's time as a prisoner, the scientists were able to take enough DNA samples from the boy along with various other mutants. Of course, Logan's breakout of himself and the mutants prevented them from doing anything with the boy himself, but it didn't matter, as they had his DNA.
Nathaniel Essex, better known simply as Sinister, was a high-ranking Weapon X scientist. In his position, Sinister had a wealth of resources at his disposal. From thousands of genetic samples to both humans and mutants alike to experiment upon, he was able to do great things for the program. But even Sinister was still just a man, and he was jealous. He believed that he himself should be a ruler of some sort. As a result, Sinister began to experiment with a variety of different mutant DNA in order to find two donors that, when combined, would create the so-called "ultimate lifeform."
After hundreds of tests, Sinister found his perfect combination. The father DNA came from the former prisoner Scott Summers while the mother genes came from Jean Grey, a documented mutant. Computer simulations and pre-emptive tests proved that this combination would herald Sinister's perfect mutant. A baby was grown in a test tube, growing from a fetus into an infant and eventually into a young boy.
What Sinister didn't count on was the end of the Weapon X program at the hands of Wolverine. In the course of the Alkali Lake facility's destruction, the tube that housed Nate's form was broken out of its equipment and sent with random debris. In the wake of the cleanup crew, the tube ended up in a U.S. government warehouse, where it was eventually inadvertently opened. The general of the base was the one who came upon the form of a six-year-old boy. The general quickly sent the boy to an orphanage, keeping his origins quiet, with the orphanage assigning him the first name of Nathaniel after the general. His last name of Grey was given to him based on writing on the side of the tube near where he was found: XNGREY-13.
Nate grew up in various orphanages and foster homes. It seemed as if the youth never seem to be able to fit in well, perhaps due to his quiet nature and lack of well-adjusted socialization. When Nate was nine, his abilities first manifested, causing a building to destroy in on itself. With the government having expected as much from the creation, Nate was subjected to various ways of curtailing his powers, such as mental therapy and medication.
It was at the age of 18 that Nate's life would change forever. He was finally of legal age, sending him out on his own. No longer taking the medication assigned to him, Nate's powers began to flare out of control just outside of New York City. Luckily, the X-Men, at the behest of Professor Xavier, were able to stop Nate before he inadvertently hurt anybody. Hank McCoy discovered that Nate's powers were destroying him from the inside out, and he was able to use a combination of chemicals and genetic engineering in order to apply a genetic brand to him. Of course, the side effects were his bangs turning white, and a black "tattoo" in the form of an "X" on his chest.
Since then, Nate has been in and out of the Institute, feeling some sort of loyalty to the X-Men for saving his life. Of course, it doesn't hurt that he still regularly trains, if only to prevent himself from having a temper tantrum and accidently killing a continent.
